Rory Gardiner Captures First Place In Class With Mother Tracey Gardiner Finishing Second.
Providence, RI (October 27th 2012) – A 3,000 mile cross country trek to the beautiful Olympia area of Washington State was the final event of the 2012 series for the Rhode Island based TRS motor sport team. Tracey Gardiner, owner/driver at TagRallySport completed what she set out to do when she crossed the finish line at the final event of the 2012 Rally America National Series.
TRS is the first team to compete nationally in the Open light category, a grass roots level non turbo class that does not yet have national series recognition. With Rory winning the Eastern Division Class and Tracey coming second, running one of the few truly women owned motor sports teams in the country, they hope to bring attention to the class and show the dedication of grass roots competitors, perhaps influencing sanctioning bodies to recognize the class for national status in 2013. “I believe we have shown how entry level, grass roots teams will come together to promote the class said Tracey, adding “what we accomplished both in New England and Washington State by bringing people together to support more cars than top level teams have ever entered in an event, speaks volumes to the support that exists both for the class and the sport.”
Not only did TRS create an environment of support in the service area, but also had the privilege of having the 2012 2WD National Champion and WRC participant, Chris Duplessis pull in to their pit area. Chris is the face of grassroots rally motor sport in America. “This is exactly what the US rally world needs to grow. We need more grassroots teams and companies like Tracey’s that love our sport and want to support those just starting off,” said Chris. Tracey was able to bring teams from both coasts together working alongside the Noble Rally team out of Michigan, all proud to be part of a bigger cause in promoting stage rally in America.
TRS is now taking on new challenges for the 2013 series, not only do they hope to introduce a new car to the series but also intend participating in selected European events. More details to be revealed in the near future.
